Err, I thought that this section looked empty and a little lonely, so I'm writing a post.

What's the best material for an open boat, and why?

Royalex, Polythene or Composite?

Royalex is the way forward, light weight and ideal for grade 3+ water!

I had a feeling you'd paddled open a while back. Embarassed

The Erme is on the list - maybe the trip in a couple of weeks time ?

Thanks again to you and Mark.

Excellently led - the boof practice just before we really needed it really paid off and your calm unobtrusive positioning in places where you could rescue if you needed to didn't go unnoticed.

Post Best Material for w/w canoe Reply with quote
In my quest to find out about outfitting Vivien's Prelude I have discovered a lot. w/w canoes are more popular on this side of the pond and I have been seeking help from a variety of places. Royalex is far easier to outfit because epoxy resins stick to it and It puts up with the abuse better that composite.

If anybody wants help with a polyethylene one contact me.
