I was asked yesterday at Cardiff about where one could get the chance to try a surf boat and get some coaching.

Below are what I am currently aware of as options for this year. More may be added later, for instance they are talking about running another Surf Symposium late summer.

Ride Surf Kayaks are running a development weekend at Llangennith, on the Gower Peninsula 4-5th June. Cost will be about £10 for hopefully some coaching on Satruday and the chance to try some of their surf kayaks on the Sunday.

Surf Kayak Coaching are running a surf symposium near St. Ives, Cornwall on June 10th to 12th. (should have been in May but there was no surf !) This is £90 and numbers are restricted by the number of coaches. They have a few places for the June date which will, I believe, cater for all levels of ability.

Glyn Brackenbury runs the excellent website http://www.surfkayakskills.com/ and organises a weekend coaching/workshop event based at Skern Lodge, Westward Ho!. There was one in April and there may be one later in the year, contact him to find out. They are good value, the April one was £45.

SACC Surfing Weekend, also based at Skern Lodge 22-24 July. Plenty of people to help out and I expect to be there and am very willing to pass on tips and suggestions. Note also that Skern Lodge is an official demo boat location for Mega Performance Kayaks so this is an ideal opportunity to have a go in a proper surf boat - you probably won't believe the difference in performance over your white water boat Smile

Thank you John.

I suspect that was Martyn asking you - if not, Martyn - all the information you could possibly want!
