Hi All,

We have a number of weekend trips scheduled to take place over the summer where the original organiser is no longer available to lead. For some of these we may be able to find an alternative coach / experienced paddler who is willing to lead the group. Others may still go ahead but not as an official club trip (in which case attendees would not be covered by the club insurance).

Before we try to figure out if and how these events go ahead we thought it best to first gauge interest. We appreciate that some of these events are quite a few weeks distant and that things may change in the interim but it would be helpful if you could reply to this thread to indicate if you are likely to attend.

The specific events are:

17th June - River Avon / Sea Mills
    25th June - River Wye
    30th July - River Wye
    19th - 20th August - Turf Locks
27th August - Trip up the Avon

Please respond 'Yes / No / Maybe' and feel free to firm things up closer to the time.

If you feel confident and capable enough to volunteer to lead any of these trips please include this in your response. It would be very much appreciated.

These sound like great trips. I have heard a lot about Turf Locks and Colin is keen that the trip goes ahead in his absence. I would also love a chance to paddle under the suspension bridge. Hopefully between us we can find a way to make them happen.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I can't make it for the Turf Locks trip but I'm interested in attending the other ones you've listed.

I'm comfortable with organising/leading flat water trips. I've never paddled the tidal Avon so would prefer to leave it to someone who knows how to interpret the tides to organise that, but I'm happy to offer my services to organise/lead any of the Wye trips or the other Avon trip if that would be helpful.

Cheers,
Laura

Hi Matt, if I'm around for the Turf Locks paddle I'd certainly want to go. It is smack in the middle of the holiday season that's the only reason I'm not at this point 100%

Hi Matt

Unfortunately diary clashes mean I cannot make any of these - much to my disappointment

I can't make the Sea Mills or Turf Lock or the first Wye trip. I may be able to make the second Wye trip, and very much hope to do the Avon one. Regards, Hugh

CANCELLED - SEA MILLS PADDLE 17TH JUNE 2017

Hi All,

We haven't managed to find an experienced paddler who is available to lead the planned Sea Mills paddle tomorrow. As this is a tidal trip and the muddy banks make rescue problematic should it be needed we don't think it is safe or sensible to proceed as an unofficial trip.

This is normally a popular trip so if there is sufficient demand (and an experienced leader available) we may be able to reschedule. Please express any interest and availability below.

Andy is leading this trip:

The plan is to do the Avoncliffe to Dundas loop (about 8 miles). Paddle down the Avon and back on the Kennet and Avon Canal.

There are a couple of weirs and paddle back over aqua ducts.

Bump!

We have a trip on the River Wye pencilled in for Sunday 25th.

The precise route hasn't yet been decided but Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat has something to offer for most (levels permitting). Open to alternatives though.

Please can those who expressed an interest confirm if they plan to attend tomorrow so we can decide if the trip is going ahead and plan the day.

Cheers,

Matt
