Details for Avon trip on the program for 27th August. This a paddle that we have not run before (or at least not in my time). Therefore although I have checked out the paddle we will be working it out as we go.

I intend that we will paddle the River Avon from Bradford on Avon down to Dundas. We will then have to carry the boats up to the canal which runs right next to the river. Then a gentle paddle back to Bradford on Avon over aqueducts crossing the River. The trip is about 8 miles and I will be paddling an open boat.

http://www.paddlepoints.net/paddlepoints.aspx?Location=Bradford-on-Avon,%20Wiltshire,%20UK#

Please meet at the tithe barn car park in Bradford on Avon at 9am. Early start as the car park is fairly small.

If you intend to come then please post on this forum.

Amy and I are interested but not sure about what to do it in. I would be happy sharing an open boat, but i don't tink my Micra would be suitable to carry one. If others are going with an open and wish to share then we are interested! I will be back to a computer on Thursday and away from communication until then. David

I'd like to do this. I've done a longer version of the same route (Bradford on Avon to join the canal at Warleigh) as a peer paddle, but that felt slightly too long so this shorter version sounds good!

One of the weirs (think it was Avoncliffe) didn't look good to run last time, and had very limited access to the bank around it so we ended up portaging that via joining the canal there as well. Overall it was all very do-able though.

I think I'm just going to do the trip in my kayak, as it would add a lot to the driving for me if I go via the club storage. One day I will get my own open boat!
