Post Open Boating - training session - Sunday 30th January Reply with quote
Anyone fancy a change from kayaking?? - If you are reading this on the Open Boating forum you must already be interested!

Neil Fuller is offering to run a training session on Sunday 30th January for Open Boaters who wish to develop their skills and gain some experience on WW.

The training will probably take place on the Lower Dart and will be be suited to those who have done some basic Open Boating previously who would like a "gentle" Intro to WW. Options to Paddle tandem or solo should be available.

Please note (at the risk of upsetting existing Open Boaters) - You don't have to a beer belly, a beard and a poor sense to fashion to attend!

Cheers

Steve

Steve, unfortunately this clashes with the SACC North Wales weekend. Shame else I would have come along. Can Neil re-schedule?

Beer belly is developing, could grow the beard longer and my sense of fashion (whatever fashion is) would have to be judged by others. I'd like to come along.

As explained previously I need to get someone to take over my "on call" duty that day (can't risk phone & laptop on the water even if it is "gentle"). Unless the training could be rearranged. I'll keep in touch but please pencil me in.

John

Post Alternative date? Reply with quote
Neil is offering either 5th or 6th March as alternative dates to 30th Nan as it seems most of those interested cannot make that date.

Any takers??

Interested in March though not fully dismissed next week yet. Only potential problem for March is that Roger & I may be skiing, depends on which last minute deal we take.

Steve,

I may be interested if this runs on the March weekend, as I'll be down a cave on 30th Jan... I've done a little bit of open boating (enough to get my new-style 2*!) and I quite like the sound of a gentle intro to moving water, preferably with a partner if someone is prepared to tandem. If more flat water experience is required, just let me know and I'll understand!

Cheers!

Dear Steve,

Maybe both...we'll see!!

Will there be enough club boats/paddles to borrow and the means of getting them there? Also, I'd be very grateful of a lift if anyone has a space. Don't mind getting to somewhere else in Bristol, or over the bridge (Suspension Bridge, that is...!) if it helps...

Thank you!

If you are wanting to paddle tandem you shouldnt need to bring a boat - hopefully you'll be able to share with someone else who is already bringing one!

As for lifts - most of us live WSM area. Dont know at the moment if anyone else will coming down from Bristol area . We'll see a bit nearer the time or you could meet us @ WSM?
