Post North Wales 23rd - 25th February 2018 Reply with quote
We have booked The Glan Dwr Mountain Lodge bunkhouse near Betws-y-coed for our annual trip to North Wales. The bunkhouse is equiped with kitchen, drying room, wood burner.

Website for the accommodation is: www.glandwrlodge.co.uk

This is always a very eventful trip with rivers to suit all standards of paddlers. With good water there are plenty of rivers to paddle to suit all abilities. However if it is dry rivers such as the Dee will run and the Treweryn is usually releasing for at least one day over the weekend. Alternatively walking in Snowdonia is always an option.

Last year there was good water and it was enjoyed by all who came along. Please do not be afraid to express your interest whatever your ability.

However please note that this is a paddling trip and spaces are primarily open for those of us who want to paddle.

Places are limited to 20 so please let me know if you wish to come. The cost will be £28.00 for the weekend and I will require payment to confirm your place which will be done on a first come first served basis. Just so you know I already have people who have expressed an interest so places are likely to fill up fast.

Deposits (£28.00) can either be paid to me by cheque or paid directly into the SACC bank account. Details can be found on the membership form or ask a committee member!
Please ensure that your reference is NW-[NAME]

Please ensure that you email me that you have paid if you make a bank transfer. Email: andy_hayes5@yahoo.co.uk

Neil has been trying to give me cash for himself, James, Rona and Daisy some time so I am counting that as paid.
I will cover JC if necessary as I need to pay him at some point for a boat.
John Hollie has messaged me asking how to pay so this should come through very soon.

Andy, if you still have a space I'll take. I won't be at the pool tomorrow but can sort the payment somehow.

If there's a space spare, can I put my name down for it.
If so not sure I've got the current a/c details - but can send it via Helen W.
Cheers

Anne,

Because no one else has replied - of course you can join us. But be aware that at the moment there aren't many paddling options and no rain forecast.

See if the Tryweryn will release here:
https://www.nationalwhitewatercentre.co.uk/water-information

And the only other river that looks worthwhile for a paddle at this stage is the Dee.

The Tryweryn is not releasing this weekend, currently the only thing that will be running is the Dee...
Might be worth bringing a book or two

Will most likely be Horseshoe Falls to Llangollen, though I may be wrong, not involved in decision making Razz Would be best to ask Andy H

River will certainly be low so you guys should be fine

Anne,

Ciaran has pointed you in the right direction. If you are comfortable with Cardiff you should be OK.

The question really comes to which day people will want to paddle it, need a decision maker to help you there which I am not!

I'm personally not planning to take a boat at all, but taking a bike instead.

I also believe Neil H has dropped out now so there is potentially "a space" in the bunk house.
