I have noticed for a long time that email notifications have not been sent to me. It seems that many others have not received them either.

I recently sent a general email to all members of the forum, as I am an Administrator, warning that I would be carrying out a Forum Update over the bank holiday weekend. I did not carry out this work as it became apparent that nobody had received the email!

This is notification that I intend to do this work soon, but I am worried that as it is such a huge update in terms of versions that I am worried that we might all the posts that we have at the moment. I will do a complete back up of the Forum before I do the update, and propose to test it on a blank platform first. If this doesn't work, I will let you all know here.

Let me know your thoughts here if you have any concerns.

Personally, I would rather have a notifications as opposed to having to keep logging on to check for replies or follow threads. even of this means loosing the history?!?

Hi Rich,

I didn't get your email.

I recently upgraded the fishing club forum to version 3.0.8 It was not a particularly straightforward task though I got it working ok apart from the search facility of the stuff I transferred. Still working on that.

You'll probably need to do a new install and then rename the two forums so that the new one is the one that comes up from the link. The only posts you should lose are those made during the transition.

Have fun.

John

Does anyone get notifications now then?
I still don’t and all notification settings are on. If it isn’t functioning properly, and people are using the Facebook Page (which does give notifications), why do we still use the forum?

I ask this, because we turned up at the Fishermans Cot just as Matt was leaving the carpark si you had all finished and left at the time I was told to turn up.

Sorry about that.

Given the levels a lot of folk gave the paddle a miss and those that did go ahead got on at the Council estate rather than Jean’s lay-by. Because of this everyone was finished and began eating much earlier than originally expected. Didn’t think to updates the forum / facebook (though couldn’t have anyway as had no reception).

I have never received email notifications from the forum and didn’t realise that this was possible (even though I had ticked the box).

We have previously discussed communications at the committee meeting. The consensus seems to be that we have no option other to continue with both the forum and facebook as some members seem to use one but not the other (and a few use neither of course).

If the forum is updated to the latest version it would work, and also be comparable with Tapatalk to, I’d expect.
